November 5, 2009 - Leader Of The Class, the central high-point aged stallion in 2001, died this afternoon of colic.
A 1996 son of world champion Special Leader out of Zevis Classy Lady (TB) by Zevi, Leader Of The Class was bred by Robert Zoch of Lincoln, Texas, and owned by Kevin Cleary and George Gowens of Crawfordsville, Indiana. Earning $12,163, the stallion won four of 17 races, with four seconds and one third, at Hoosier Park in Indiana and Mount Pleasant Meadows in Michigan. He also was successful in barrel racing.
Leader Of The Class sired 57 Quarter Horses, of which 22 started races. Nine of them came back winners, including stakes winners Im Leadin Yawl ($69,754) and Leaders Policy ($29,946).
